The "Swiss" ball, as it is known today, originated in 1963 when an Italian manufacturer, Mr. Aquilino Cosani, started producing toys made of vinyl instead of rubber. He developed techniques to make large yellow, orange and green (Gymnastik®) balls and sold them in Europe. In 1981, the company divided and Mr. Cosani formed Ledraplastic, SNC. Ledraplastic began producing a new line of exercise balls and rolls with different standard colors such as blue, red and pearl white.
These exercise balls (aka swiss balls, balance balls, stability balls, fitness balls, birthing balls) are widely used by rehabilitation, fitness and educational professionals throughout the world.

EXERCISE BALL SUGGESTED SIZING GUIDELINES-
When sitting on the ball, your knees and hips should approximate a 90 degree angle or slightly higher. Here are some general guidelines:
- 4'8" to 5'3" --55cm
- 5'3" to 6'0"-- 65cm
- 6'0" to 6'7" --75cm
Chart is intended for general guidelines only. Please consult your therapist or trainer for your specific needs. If your height is between the specifications, you may need the larger size if you have long legs or carry extra weight for your height. If there is doubt, a larger ball is recommended because it can be slightly under inflated.
Please Note: -- Due to individual differences and workout preferences the guidelines are only general recommendations. If in doubt or if the ball is intended for sitting consider selecting a larger size exercise ball.
